Cars in NL are taxed extra (called BPM) and that before VAT is applied. For
German people, it is therefore far less expensive buying a brand new car in NL
and have it re-registered in D than buying it directly. To indicate the
differences, a friend of mine in Jülich bought a new Opel Corsa and spend
10000 euro while the listed price in NL is 16000,- euro.
