Richard,

I have used that lens on an earlier, folding type Retina. It is an excellent lens.
Every bit as good as the Leitz f3.5 Elmar.

2011/12/17 Richard Knoppow <dickburk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>:
I picked up a Kodak Retina Automatic III a a swap meet this morning. The
shutter appears to be stuck. Its not the automatic lock-out but I think dirt in the shutter. The trouble is that I can't find any service info and its not intuitive as far as accessing the shutter. Does anyone know a source of
service information? The camera is not worth paying a pro to fix it.

Richard, at the end of the page there are photographs and explanations
about the way an user could access the Retina Automatic III shutter,
he was interested about the aperture blades:

Thank Carlos, I found a user manual at the Butkus site, it doesn't even mention the meter so maybe there are a couple of pages missing. Mine isn't locking out, the shutter just never trips so its possible it may be dirty or perhaps something else has gone wrong. I find Rollei and Leica cameras pretty easy to work on but this thing baffles me. I paid too much for it at a swap meet out of curiousity and because it looks almost unused. From what I've read the lens is excellent, it would be nice to be able to find out:-) The lens is an f/2.8 Xenar. This is about the maximum speed for a Tessar-type lens, but since its a "modern" lens it may be pretty good. I wlll let the list know if I get it working.
