The comparison I would make is this.  It is not necessary to spend oodles of 
money in order to take s great picture.  Some of the best photos ever made used 
modest equipment.  It's like saying you have to use a Stradivarius if you want 
to play the violin.

You can buy all the M8s you want, nobody is telling you what to do.  But I am 
sure the same results can be achieved for a fraction of the cost.
