Alpas beat Leicas hands down in the "coolness" department. Given a choice - and if I had the money, of course - I would pick an Alpa (like an 8b, a 9d, silver, or best of all a 10d without crest, again silver, as shown at <http://www.alpa.ch/alpa/history/alpa10d.html>) over ANY Leica. (Only 245 Alpa 8 cameras were made all in all!) The 11si (silver) is no slouch in the "coolness" department either. In some ways it's the most attractive, aesthetically, of all. See <http://www.alpa.ch/alpa/history/alpa11si.html>. And of course the 12 WA (<http://www.alpa.ch/alpa/alpa12wa.htm>) is a medium format photographer's dream. "... the ALPA is a camera for the photographer who has completely mastered his or her craft [...] There is an immense satisfaction in this..." - so says the British Journal of Photography, London, regarding the ALPA 12. "Reduced to the essentials - the true luxury of the 21st century. Restraint in design. Discipline in photographic work." - as Alpa's web site most correctly puts it. Cheers.
