Marc,

Sure, I approve. You can also drink Night Train, or Mad Dog. That way there is more of the good stuff for those who
care. Sniff--grin.

I see that you are reading Turtledove's latest. I have to wait for my copy to arrive at the Public library. BTW, Every time I hear George W. shout FREEDOM! I think of your hero in Turtledove's recent books.

Camping? The last time I camped out was at Fort Belvoire, Virginia in 1952. I don't miss it a bit.

Have fun!
Jerry

I've been back since the afternoon of Sunday, the 2nd of September. You guys DID behave yourselves and thank you!

I had a great time camping. I did not take a single picture. I just sat and read and sometimes we cooked. My wife and I disputed a bit over WHY we bought ice every day: I wanted it for G&T's and she watned it to keep the meat from rotting, but, heck, if you've been in the service, rotten meat is something which occurs from time to time.

We had a titanic rainstorm last Friday which drenched us well. I kept my books and cameras dry though my pipes got wet and my tobacco pouch got soaked. All is back to norm today. But I do miss the evening mist coming in over those slash hills as the fire starts to draw down to coals.

I first camped at this site in 1970. I have gone there for decades thereafter, with long gaps. It was great to be back.

Pictures? Nah! Why take pictures of a bunch of fat rednecks around a campsite redolent of Appalachian living styles? I had a fine vintage wine along (a Franzia bladder, for Jerry Lehrer's sniffy approval: when we go camping, we buy box wine and tear the box apart so the bladder will fit better into the cooler). But, for the most part, I spent the evenings reading Turtledove's latest whilst swilling G&T's.

Damn, but I miss it. I gotta go back, and soon.

Marc
