I played an organ with an Aeoline the other day....very soft, almost
useless until I found out that in the old days the organist played all
through the service...even during the sermon, so they needed a soft stop
for background.

The organ is a rare instrument...it and the symphony orchestra - that is
designed by the music to be played on it. What music could call for the
16's in the crescendo?
