Everyone, don't get freaked-out about the weather reports! The forecast can change greatly in just 48 hours and many times is not accurate for Lucerne Valley. This goes for the "W" too! I've driven up the pass when it's been pouring rain and by the time I reach Lucerne it's dry as a bone.

Also -- even if there's a little rain on Friday, it does NOT mean that the
lake bed will be muddy on Saturday.

If the lake bed hasn't received a LOT of rain recently -- which I don't believe it has -- a reasonable quantity of rain on Friday will likely be almost completely bone dry by Saturday. The lake bed is like a sponge: it soaks up small amounts of water very quickly, and it sinks deep, leaving the surface nice and dry. Often, a bit of rain simply does a great job of keeping down the dust.

The day after it rains is very often a GREAT day for flying, as you tend to get beautiful & calm clear blue skies following a shower.

I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!

Cheers,
