Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm a bit new to the club....I searched the
whole archive, and couldn't find any definitive information on this
subject....
What are the dimensions of our various launch rails? Specifically, what's
the longest 1010 rail that is (or will be at LDRS) available to us? My L2
rocket, which I'm planning to certify with at LDRS, is a Madcow/Apogee
Level 2 (that's actually the name of the kit, I know, kind of
confusing....it's a 4 inch, DD fiberglass kit, about 70 inches long), and I
don't have a measured launch weight for it yet, but my simulations using
the specified weight from the kit documentation (~8 lbs dry) shows that it
won't reach 50 ft/s until the 57 inch mark. Rail departure speed at 48
inches of usable rail (about the best number I could find from the
archives...6 - 2=4 feet to account for buried rail length and distance
between my rail buttons) is 45.6 ft/s.
