J'avais repéré récemment qu'il y avait une possibilité de combiner deux
framebuffers sur une même sortie de la carte Titanium. Bref, de piloter
un écran 2,5 K (voire presque 4K, avec un taux de rafraichissement
toutefois très bas), depuis un seul port DVI, en utilisant une
configuration combinant deux écrans en un... de façon logicielle.
Les développements, c'est un bon codeur, mais aussi trouver la bonne
info.
Et donc je dis bingo, car effectivement, cela marche !
La preuve :
R-Comp Interactive is pleased to announce a new software update for its
TiMachine range of computers that will allow customers to break the
2048
pixel limit which normally restricts users to 1080p or 1920x1200
displays.
At the show, you'll be able to see a TiMachine driving a 2560x1440
display, and even running at (nearly) 4k!
This magic is made possible by a third release of our custom !DualHead
software which, in this case, allows a single high resolution display
to
be driven by the two halves of the Titanium board.
!DualHead is supplied free with all our TiMachine systems, and normally
looks after multi-monitor setups, but in this instance it allows our
customers to drive single large displays.
!DualHead is also available as part of RCI's Titanium Support Scheme,
if
you didn't buy a TiMachine from us.
The software also makes it simple to switch back to single, lower
resolution display for compatibility with old full-screen software (eg.
games), and there's easy recovery too, should anything go wrong.
Commenting on the new development, RCI's Andrew Rawnsley said, "The

pixel limit has been an unfortunately limitation for such a high end
system since the launch of the Titanium/TiMachine. With lovely
displays
available pushing beyond this, I am thrilled to finally be able to show
Titanium combining high performance *and* high resolution graphics.

a major breakthrough and allows a 'no compromises' experience on RISC
OS."
Existing owners will be able to download the software shortly - look
for
v3 on the download site in the next few days subject to available time
before/after the London show.

Bref, la Titanium devient officiellement la meilleure carte RISC OS du
marché, avec quasiment tous les avantages possibles.
SATA, 2 Go de RAM, processeur Cortex-A15 très rapide, format adapté à
un boitier PC traditionnel.
Seul défaut, le mode des couleurs (RGB et non GBR) qui impacte encore
certains logiciels. Je reste persuadé qu'il existe une solution à ceci.
Le plus simple aurait été de modifier la connectique DVI dans ce sens
lors de la conception de la carte... Mais visiblement le développeur
n'avait pas pensé à ça :)
