I like that version of Helter Skelter you shared, Chris.
You know, Beatles renditions are so imprinted in our minds it has scared
off most musicians from even trying, but there was one Cd back in the
eighties, called I Got No Kick Against Modern Jazz, that was all covers
of Beatles tunes, mostly without vocals, and no way out chords or futzd
up progressions, just very tasty instrumentations that I believe you'd like.
I'm very conservative when it comes to some classics, I hate jazzed up
Christmas carols and jivey versions of old hymns and such, no respect
shown, but these tracks in I Got no Kick Against Modern Jazz aren't like
that.
