It takes about five minutes the first time. If your computer has Vista you
might have to download a file from the web site. This can be a pain because
the opening page has a very noisy video on it. You are supposed to cancel
out of that window that comes up when you plug it in, then let it do it's
own thing for a while till the sign up screen shows up. Sometimes you have
to plug it in a couple times before it will work.

Hi! We just bought the Magic Jack, but we can't get it to work. When we
put it into the usb port, it brings up a window that asks what type of
action we wish to perform, including a lot of stuff having to do with photos
and other programs, and the list has nothing to do with Magic Jack. When we
cancel out, it takes us directly to the desktop and does nothing else. This
was supposed to be simple! Smile

Karen,

You can listen to my demo of Magic Jack that Jim so graciously posted from
our March 2008 meeting at
http://www.shellworld.net/~jimkc/jack.mp3

I still think this is the cheapest, if not the most reliable, way to go.
$50 for 5 years of unlimited service is hard to beat.

Subject: [real-eyes] Internet Phone Services

Hello all! I want to explore some internet phone services. I don't mean
talking with a microphone on your computer. I mean something like Magic
Jacks (I don't know how to spell it) or something similar. We are thinking
of using such a service, which I hear is only about $30 per year. Does
anyone have any information on this or ideas of where I should look? Thanks
in advance.
With a smile,
Karen
