Kansas repeaters on backup power and easy to find, but Missouri's are going
to have to respond individually.

Thanks to Joe Kraut and Scott for their responses.

====================

Larry,

Go to <http://www.ksrepeater.com> and select RPT Directory.

Repeaters can be sorted a number of ways. Such as Area, City, and Emergency
Power. The small 'e' in the notes indicates that the sponsor has reported
that repeater as having backup power.

There is also an <http://www.missourirepeater.org> site, but their database
is down for updates. The Kansas site includes the KC Metro area.

This information is also available in the ARRL Repeater Handbook. Brian
Short, KC0BS, is the Kansas coordinator.

Larry-

The Raytown VHF Repeater (145.170) has an automatic battery rollover. This
is indicated by an extra beep accompanied by the courtesy tone on each
transmission.

Far as I know we haven't ever run a test to see how long the machine will
operate with activity on battery power.

Sounds like a good idea to test that out!

Larry,

The complete list of repeaters in Kansas and Missouri with emergency power
can be found in the ARRL Repeater Directory. Just look for the lower case
letter "e" in the Notes column.

OK, folks, that's it. I got swamped, I cannot take any more! Thanks, to
all who have responded! This WAS an interesting experiment and thanks to the
relatively new ham who asked me to do this.

Caution, an expert in these things, says to not bet that the Repeater
Handbook listings are correct.

BOTTOM LINE: It seems that 99% of the repeaters do have emergency, backup,
power.

73 and stay healthy!
