Subject: [CCB-L] Blind character on TV this week!
After more than 5 years with no opportunities for blind actors on television,
this week, the FX show, Nip Tuck, features a blind caracter played by a blind
actor, yours truly.
This is particularly cool, because the episode pokes fun at Hollywood's
practice of hiring sighted actors to play blind roles, then hiring blind actors
to coach them. So, in this episode, called Magda and Jeff, I play a blind "tech
advisor" who is supposed to coach a sighted actor as to how to best play a
blind character. It's a witty piece. It will be interesting to see how much of
what we shot is still included in the final edit.
In October, 2007, I booked three roles, one in a sitcom, one in this 60-minute
drama, and another in a movie to be released. Funny how things go in trends in
Hollywood. There has been a streak of blind characters lately. One newer
episode of CSI features a blind male murderer. Then, there is that feature out
now about the lady with the eye transplant. Even Tom Sullivan apparently going
to release a movie with a blind lead character soon.
Anyway, if you care to watch, the schedule is posted below.
