Holy crap did you see that boat crash!! Wow! Let me know when you head to Goodwood Ray, I am coming with you, that would be my first choice of events to cover, well maybe a tie with the Italian GP at Monza (right now I'd settle for tricycle races at RMR, 1 whole month of new camera and not motorsports pics on it, sad) Larr -----Original Message----- From: ratpack-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ratpack-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ray Buck Sent: Tuesday, November 24, 2009 2:59 PM To: ratpack@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [ratpack] Rebilas' blog I was just instructed to check out the drag photos from Bakersfield earlier this year http://markjrebilas.com/blog/?p=3236 Unreel! You gotta see the shot of the funny car blowing its body hundreds of feet in the air (according to Rebilas.) I'm not much of a drag racing fan, but I found that some of the shots here with the chutes open were VERY aesthetically pleasing. And they were purdy, too. I don't think many of us really like to see crashes, especially dangerous or senseless ones, but Rebilas seems to have his finger on the pulse of the great unwashed sheeple who go to races to swill beer and wait for the next crash. As a result he's come up with a "best crashes of 2008" section: http://markjrebilas.com/blog/?p=2334 When Doc Freud is favorably impressed, over and over again, I listen to what he has to say. He's teaching me a lot, and the Rebilas blog entries are a great place to learn. I thought I saw where he was named Motorsports Photographer of the year, but I couldn't seem to find it again. Ohhh...one more thing. I found out from my German friend Pork Pie that one of my photos was the cover shot for a magazine in the UK called Fast Facts. He tells me there's a large ad for me and my photographic services. Huh! News to me. 'Course the likelihood of me covering events in Britain are sorta slim, but I'd love to Goodwood for the Festival of Speed. Maybe if a Brit team comes to the salt I can have an in to shoot for them. I finally got an order for a CD from the French Canucks and their Saltmobile. Can't complain about that. It could even buy me half a flash unit. :) Ok...that's all the news that's fit to print. RtR ps. My fanciful bio on target550 was approved. I guess I'll have to start coming up with stories about living as a sewer rat. :)
