Greetings, Radio Explorer user!

Version 2.6.1 is now available for download.

This version adds two adjustments.

The first one enables Radio Explorer to open the current B04 FCC HF Seasonal
schedule, which has changed the header format since the previous A04 season.

The second one makes it possible to use Radio Explorer with the latest version
of Java software, the 'Tiger' 1.5 version. Note that the www.java.com site,
the consumer site for Java software, still installs the previous 1.4.2 version
of Java software on user machines by default. You can get the Tiger version
from the Sun Microsystems' Web site by pointing your browser to
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp and then following the Download
JRE link. From the user point of view, the Tiger version of Java software
better manages Java applications that can be installed via the Java Web Start
technology.

A note about support for programming schedules in a new format (Web pages/HTML
files packed into a ZIP archive), which was announced in the previous Radio
Explorer newsletter message
(//www.freelists.org/archives/radioexplorer/07-2004/msg00000.html).
Although this feature had been implemented in July 2004, eventually it was not
considered appropriate for release. Maintaining comprehensive compiled
programming schedules is a challenging task, and it would not be possible to
guarantee availability of such schedules in the future. With any luck, the
implemented code will turn out to be of use at some later time, when/if a new
publicly available source of compiled programming schedules appears.

I hope you enjoy using Radio Explorer!
