Collecting this data opens the project up to legal questions, and you
have to describe these things, and maybe make a tickbox somewhere ("I
agree with collecting data"). Seems like a hassle to me.
I would say: make a poll for the mailing list. and people can fill it in.
Personally I am not too interested in the use, I am happy just using
the software. But for those interested: add The Netherlands to the
list :).

As an option I was thinking about adding extra code in the footer of the
project files to allow gathering those data. Something like a zero pixel or
google analytics? Of course, this should be toggle-able in the config. Yet
there should be an option to differentiate between production and
non-production setups.
