Hi Jon, This is a feature request http://bugs.racktables.org/view.php?id=639 to add support in Racktables for Overlapping subnets that is starting to gain some traction ☺ and there are various threads in the list archives about this: //www.freelists.org/post/racktables-users/VRFOverlapping-IP-Feature,1 Please add your interest to this feature request on the bug tracker Cheers, Neil From: racktables-users-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:racktables-users-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jon Sent: 04 March 2015 23:35 To: racktables-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [racktables-users] Multi-site support for overlapping subnets Hello racktables-users, I have been tasked with finding a solution to our IP management across multiple sites. We are currently using Rackatbles for one of our sites. Everyone is impressed with it so we would like to add more sites into our IP management. The problem I am running into is that we run essentially the same vlans/subnets in the various sites but I'm having trouble adding two objects with the same IP. I know you can tag an object with a location, but that doesn't seem to differentiate it enough that the IPs can overlap. Essentially we have: Site 1 vLAN 100 Site 2 vLAN 100 Site 3 vLAN 100 10.10.10.1 site 1 gateway 10.10.10.1 site 2 gateway 10.10.10.1 site 3 gateway 10.10.10.4 site 1 printer 10.10.10.4 site 2 printer 10.10.10.4 site 3 printer 10.10.10.5 Jane PC 10.10.10.5 Bob PC 10.10.10.5 Steve PC The current thinking is that we could stand up one instance of racktables for each site then come up with some front end that leverages the API. My major problem with that is that I don't think it will scale very well. Three sites now, but what about when it's 10 or 100... that's 10 different databases to maintain, 10 different installations... I'd appreciate and thoughts, suggestions, etc., on how you manage multi site racktables installs. Thanks, Jon A
