Any port of any object can be connected to any other port of the same or a
distinct object, given that the ports have compatible types (i.e. fiber never
connects to copper and so on). The port linker pop-up window by default filters
the list of candidate ports, but with a couple of clicks it can list all
_compatible_ ports of all objects. Location information doesn't really matter
in this context.
