[python] soon to be born, a young python

After a lot of reading and thinking I finally started my own python project.
Unfortunately only slow improvements.
I dont own a MAG welder. but I can use one during my lunchbreaks for about 30
minutes three times a week.
The final impulse to start building was this:
In the last week of 2006 I found a "FLEVO Racer" on the famous dutch secondhand
marketsite "marktplaats.nl" for only 100 euro's
I made contact with the owner but I had to wait because someone else had made
contact earlier than me.
In the end, I had bad luck and the owner informed me that he had sold the bike
to the other person.
I thanked him for the info in a conversation about recumbents I told him that
there were lots of beautifull bikes on the python site.
He told me that the one who had bought the flevobike also owned a Python based
trike.
Since I know only person in holland with a pythontrike, I thought "that can't
be a coincidence"
If a fellow pythonaut keeps me from buying a flevobike,
I absolutely have to start building my own python.(thanks Henk)
Especially after the discussion about square or round tubes.
Flevo is all about square tubes where my python is completely made out of
round/oval shaped tubes.
Another coincidence?
I'm far from finished but these are the measurements that I could already make.
pivot angle: 67 degrees
trail: -27 cm
seatheight: 22 cm (stil busy working on the frame, can change one or two cm )
ground clearance: 6.5 cm
wheelbase: 91 cm
wheelsize: 18 inch, (why? because there isn't one yet for as far as I know)
steeringpivot: 1 inch headset like described on Dirk Bonne's "python for Marc"
no suspension (yet)
Nr of gears: 1 for now.
I hope when its finished, I am able to climb the very steep hills holland is so
famous for.....
if not I will mount something with more gears
the bike is made of one kids bike + one frontfork
the two frontforks are 1.25 inch * 1.5 mm round tubes
the rest of the bike is made of oval shaped tubes 2 inch*1.25inch*1.5 mm
The idea is to prove / show that the straight-up-bike was invented only because
of one missing frontfork
If they would have had two frontforks about 100 years ago, everyone would be
riding a python today
above, a picture of the basic 18" wheel donorbike. I only added one extra
frontfork.
Above:the bike taken apart and reshaped the way it was meant to be, at this
picture the parts aren't welded yet
today I finished welding these parts together and tomorrow I'll start with the
tubes for the seat.
the only extra parts,apart from the shown bike are
1 seat. I think imitation of an optima seat.
two pieces of 1 inch round (massive/full) steel length 13.8 cm
two small 2.5 inch*1inch * 6 mm steel plates, both for the connection between
front and rear part.
I'll post a picture of the pivot construction soon.
