Thank you, both. This is a roll of film my son-in-law asked me to process for him. It's old film, and not one I'm familiar with anyway. I'm thinking about having him just send it off.

Joel, thank you so much for the beautiful print! I always enjoy seeing your work.

Janet

Kodak Technidol Liquid was the recommended developer. It is essentially a POTA type, that is, Phenidone and sodium sulfite. In that respect it is similar to D-23 but made with Phenidone instead of Metol. Phenidone, on its own at relatively low pH is a very low contrast developer. POTA was formulated for special purposes such as nuclear blast phtography. Because Technical Pan was essentially a high contrast copy film it needed a special developer for pictorial purposes. Diluted standard developers simply do not work well. Technidol, while essentially POTA also had other ingredients such as a wetting agent, the latter because there were always problems with non-uniform development. Anchell may have a formula similar to Technidol, otherwise, in the absense of the real thing I would suggest POTA the formula for which is on the web. Note that Kodak recommended a special agitation method for technical pan to insure uniformity. The use of an invertible type tank is necessary. Instead of inverting the tank is shaken vertically rather rapidly. I still have Tech Pan data sheets and can forward one to you if you desire.
