Not really qualified (any more) to comment, but I will anyway. In the dark gray recesses of my mind, I remember a similar issue in the 60's. It was as I remember, just too darn much photo flo. I always used it, and will again as soon as the mancave is done,,, (this winter?), but nothing like 1/2 a cap full,,, more along the lines of several drops. And I used sponges on my negatives, one on each side, except for 35mm, when I folded the sponge in 1/2. Now,,, I went thru a lot of sponges. If they got dirty at all, in the garbage they went. I tried the rubber squeeges,,, had ok luck with window wiper blades, tried fingers, tried letting them just drain.

Never did use any distilled for anything except mixing developer.

Looking forward to getting back into the dark room a bit.

Adrienne,
I would not use plain distilled water. Also, a couple two or three drops of LFN or photo-flo are plenty. All you want to do is break the surface tension of the water. The film you're seeing is probably photo-flo.

I am overwhelmed w/all the help and insights from so many of you,
I had a heart full of gratitude while I was attempting to de-film

the weird physics of whatever is at work in this situation!)
