Thanks for all of you who replied to my "unsharp masking" question. The concept is not new to me, although I've never done it; I just operate at a sufficiently amateur level to have never heard the "unsharp" part. It was "mask it for better focus"; "use a mask to improve sharpness", and so on. My photographic vocabulary has been increased! (Now, if that would just help my image-making...)
