Well, in today's terrified world, I guess I should just expect it to happen...

I was once again stopped today, this time by Portland Police, and asked what I was doing taking pictures. (while walking on public property and taking pictures of easily-seen objects - in this case, railcars)

They were very poilite, and explained that they had to investigate anything suspicious. (I cannot fault their personal behavior - they were very courteous and non-confrontational.) They asked for my ID, and wrote down info from my drivers license, then proceeded to ask questions about what I took pictures of and why.

I was tempted to comment on the fact that meth houses were destroying neighborhoods, while they were questioning why I liked to take pictures of railcars (a long-running hobby, practiced by many, dating back to the late 1800's). But they were just doing their jobs, and I didn't feel threatened, just annoyed.

Sigh

I'm probably on multiple lists somewhere....

Maybe I need to start carrying around a portfolio of railcar pictures, bridge pictures, public-building pictures, etc. just to have something to show them. Hmmm... I could have business cards made up....

ok, I'm winding down now.....
