You must be using one of the variants of Pyrocat-HD
that contains metol, like Pyrocat-M, Pyrocat-MC or Pyrocat Uno.

I never used Panatomic X (or at least never when I knew what I was doing)
and for some reason I never liked the look of TMX when it arrived (too much
grey - - - too straight a curve?).
If you wanted something like the Panatomic X / replenished-D76 quality and
look today, what film could/would you use?

I used to develop Panatomic X 120 in a 3 1/2 gallon D-76 line
80s. A few years ago I had a show of mural prints of the celebrities that
I had photographed for INTERVIEW, Paris, German and British Vogues, Town
and Country, etc. I scanned and cropped one of the negs of Jodie Foster
shot for INTERVIEW and printed it as a 40X55 inch print. The image goes
from mid calf to over her head. If you walk up to the print and look
closely you can see the stitching on her double breasted blazer and you can
count her eyelashes. And the tonality goes from deep open black shadow
details to sparkling highlights with texture while passing through some
lovely greys. I am not bragging for me. I am complimenting the Zeiss 80mm
lens on my 'Blad and the combo of Panatomic X and whatever version of used
D-76 soup was in my processing line.
