For those of you who know computers well ... one of my young colleagues
(I am a computer engineer) made an interesting observation today. He
suggested that there was, perhaps, a connection between analog photography
and a computer command line.
For those who may not know, computer pros tend to eschew the use of the mouse
and graphical interface. We go into the so called "CLI - Command Line
Interface"
where we type in the commands that make things happen on the computer. You've
probably seen this in the movies where all manner of arcane incantations
appear on the screen as text only. This is preferred to the mouse/graphical
interface because it is far more powerful and waaaaaay faster for most things
we do.
So maybe, just maybe, sez me, "Film Is The Command Line Of Photography"...
