Roger,
you are doing ok...
At startup the client sends a short link package to the server you set in the
preferences dialog. Linking is necessary to be able to receive APRS messages
from that server.
You can check the ~/.pskmail/Outbox directory to see if you have mail in there.
You can erase the Outbox by Files->clear->Mail queue
A mail is erased as soon as you get a "message sent..." from the server,
it remains in the Outbox if you don't get that message.
I think the beacon always defaults to 'beacon on' on startup. That is what
most users wanted....
If you want to preserve the Preferences status for next program start you must
close the program via the Files->Quit menu.
The next version will also do that when you close the main window...(written
that yesterday :)
