Thanks Bill Your instructions worked and I now have fldigi running. I'll now start working on the psk_arq.pl install. Is your server running now? If so I will try and reach it this weekend. I am a Linux "newbie" also and I managed to get it going. First - I installed Unbutu 7.10 from a Live CD. Then I allowed it to install all the outstanding updates that were available (you need an active internet connection for this to happen) Second - I used the Synaptic package manager to install "build-essential". Then I copied fldigi to usr/local/bin Then I used the synaptic package manager to install "libhamlib-utils". Then I used synaptic to install "libportaudio2". Then fldigi started to work. I would start it froma terminal window in my home directory by typing ./fldigi There are several other guys on the list that can tell you what I did in all the above steps (and probably tell you some of them were not necessary ot incorrect!) Hope that helps a bit. Keep plugging away and you will get there. I am setting up a server, and hope to figure out how to make an installation package for the client and for the server for Ubuntu. One of these days I will get my son home (he lives and breathes Linux) and have him show me how to do that!
