Please permit me to made a comment on WiFi (or toy communications...Hi Hi).I have always used an external client/hardware rather than a built in client/ hardware. My first one was a LinkSys WET-11...which still works great since I normally only have 3-6 computer working into my WAP and my Internet connection is only broadband. Also, I run a couple of 750 mw BDAs which may not be legal in some countries...but with the WET-11 and external gain antenna I get several miles if LOS.
Using an external client of WAP, I have never had any problems with getting my Linux computer to work with them.

I managed to get Linux to work with the wifi system here (oh well, WORK is too much said, it took me30 minutes to download the feqs.txt file from the server (50 bytes)). That means I am now merging my stuff with the latest svn (170), so your ptttune stuff will not be broken. There is also a new version of the client coming, which needs no editing of the config file anymore (no more 2 versions of pskmailrc.pl :), but a dialog window. I guess it is worth holding the CD for it... Testing takes lots of time as the servers are below S0 here, and any idiot can stop the testing session by switching on a pactor box (not to forget the french SSB qso's on 30m on sunday morning). There are also some 200 switching battery chargers in the neighbourhood, which was nice when we had a power out this morning and all chargers started simultaneously when the power came back :). It is amazing how pskmail works around the holes in the propagation. We're getting there, tomorrow will be rainy again. 73, Rein EA/PA0R/P
