[pskmail] Modem and Android development

Just some thoughts:

I think once the Android side is done we should seriously consider the modem
in Java. The translation from C++ is not that difficult and most of the GUI
side is of no real interest to our application.

That would open other areas like memory ARQ for example.

The overhead of Java is quite acceptable for recent and current computer's
processing power. On top of this the modem re-coding and optimisations I am
doing for the Android application will fit strait in with minimal rework.

Android wise I have now had a few connected sessions between the Android
client and another client in TTY mode (the PC was the TTY server).

All modes worked well including PSK500 on an HTC Desire (over 2 years old
phone) so I am pretty happy with the progress so far.

Very encouraging.

Regards,

John
