=============== Devers, Joe, and Gary Chalk. Lone Wolf series, books 1-4.Sparrow Books, 1984-1985. (Y) Lone Wolf series, books 5-8.Beaver Books, 1985-1986. (Y) In this series of role-playing game books, the reader envisions himself as the main character and makes certain choices along the way. Similar to the Choose Your Own Adventure series, at certain points in the story, the reader makes a choice. Rather than turning the page to find out what happens, the reader/player refers to a random-number table to see how the battle ends. There is also an inventory component, so the character picks up a certain number of items that will fit in the backpack rather than collecting an unlimited number of items. Books 1 through 17 are in the public domain and may be downloaded for free at Project Aon, www.projectaon.org/en/Main/Books. =============== The books aren't public domain, but they do link to PA. Perhaps a polite request to the webmaster from a ProjectAon email address could ask them to rephrase the last sentence? The notion that 'you cannot lose what you do not have' springs to mind. :-) ---- On a more serious note, I was looking for some LW-related material and happened upon the following website: http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/projects/ttr/2008/manual/bibliography.html (Do a search for 'Lone Wolf'.) This website claims that "Books 1 through 17 are in the public domain and may be downloaded for free at Project Aon ..." My understanding is that Joe still holds (and protects) the copyright for all his books. The fact that PA provides material for free does not make anything Public Domain. This may seem like a technical nitpick, but I'd feel better if someone with a more legal mind had an opinion. Cerulean __________________________________________________________ Sent from Yahoo!
