help on sharepoint portal

Hello mates,
An upcoming project requires me to work with Microsoft sharepoint
portal technology, and I’m a bit apprehensive since I do not have any
pleasant experience with it as of now.
Does someone have a good experience with it and would be willing to
guide me a bit on the same?
Specially, in obtaining resources. I.E. good tutorial from beginners
perspective.
Those who would be kind enough to share their tutorials/books about
sharepoint portal with me are requested to please write me off the
list with their amazing helping hands.
