In December of 2007, I sent an email describing one of a large AT
company's business practices as, "heinous fuckery." I didn't look at
where it was going and thought it was among friends. Well... it went
to the head of Mozilla, the head of the Daisy Consortium and a bunch
of others.
A couple of people yelled at me but you would be surprised by the
number of people, who will remain nameless here, who replied with
cheers and laughter.
The accidental sending of emails to lists is a long and beloved
tradition in the world of hackerdom. I could probably get an entire
book that does nothing but relate these mistakes.
I've only heard of one or two people getting in any actual trouble,
most ended up drunk with their boss that night and the following
morning, with a pounding headache, had difficulty remembering what had
gone wrong.
Happy Hacking,

o jesus. someone asked for a crack, you openly admitted that you
run a list for cracked software. Making a huge deal out of it isn't
going to help much. Just pretend it didn't happen and move on with
life.

Subject: What a terrible, terrible, blunder!
Hello all!
I wish to publicly and sincerely apologize for replying to a
thread. My stupid head didn't allow me to read where the heck this
reply was going to. So what I'm going to do is leave for a while
and come back very soon. Please understand, I did not!
intentionally! reply to the thread on this list; I just made an
absolute and possibly fatal mistake. The thread was regarding
cracked software. So, for the safety and security of you all, I'm
going to leave this list, think about what I said, then come back
very soon. My dear fellows, I'm really? really? sorry! And bye for
now!
P.S. If you wish to keep in touch, please contact me at the
appropriate channels.
P.S.S. I am a person who believes in good quality software. In
fact, I'm a programmer by hobby, and now this mistake has led me
to my quick decision to leave. Once again I'm very? sorry, but
I'll be back soon. Bye for now!
