Hi Jamal -- that is indeed the installer I downloaded. I got errors that
some things couldn't be found in my installation of visual studio. I don't
know if it is a problem with the script installer or with my installation.

Ok, so I just tried it again -- It is in the section that says "find
association for scripts". It is looking in program files. I have several
folders there for visual studio. only one of which is populated with
executables -- it is visual studio 9.0. I downloaded that from
microsoft.com and installed to get C#express.
Anyway, the script installer gives the file name msenv and apparently looks
in program files for executables. What exactly is this step for? It would
help if I know what specifically the script is looking for.

That is what fails. So what do I do? Thanx
--le

Subject: Misc issues regarding development with Visual Studio

Some questions seem to occur regularly about development with Visual
Studio and a screen reader. Here are some points to help address them.
Please save this information if you are not yet developing with C# or
Visual Basic, but may do so in the foreseeable future.

The JAWS scripts for Visual Studio -- developed by blind programmers on
these lists -- work with either VS 2005 or VS 2008. They do not work
with VS 2010, which uses Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) controls
rather than Windows Forms controls.

The script installer now works with Windows 7 and 64-bit Windows,
http://EmpowermentZone.com/msenv2005.exe

or for a manual install,
http://EmpowermentZone.com/msenv2005.zip

The documentation in msenv2005.htm gives steps for a manual install.

If the executable installer does not work, please report specifics about
steps taken, resulting error messages, etc, to this list. Remember to
pick your JAWS version in the installer dialog. Otherwise, just press
Enter to accept all defaults of that dialog.

A collection of tips related to nonvisual development with .NET -- also
gathered from blind programmers on these lists -- is at
http://EmpowermentZone.com/ndn.htm

Also, the msenv2005.htm documentation, included with the scripts and put
in the JAWS script folder, includes a list of hotkeys and a tutorial on
developing a fruit basket program with C# and VS.

If anyone is interested in helping to develop JAWS scripts that improve
the usability of VS 2010, please contact Justin at
