Jay, if you want any help with making that tool accessible, let me know how
I can help.

Take care,
Sina

I agree with Jared. Basic functionality under eclipse is quite good.
However, some plug-in components, even including XML editors, I have tried
were not so accessible.

NOTE: I don't know if your project will call for it, but I now have a copy
of Event Studio for creating sequence and interface diagrams. While the GUI
for the tool itself does take a little use of the Jaws cursor (not keyboard
access for all functionality), the input to the diagrams is text based and
the resulting diagrams are, from what I've been told, very nice looking.
Event Helix has agreed to work with me on enhancing the screen reader
friendliness of the tool.

Jared,

Thanks for your reply. That sounds very promising. I would be using
Eclipse mainly for editing, compiling and debugging. Other things like UML
and GUI programming are not involved.

We will be using Eclipse, or some other tool, to develop firmware for an
Atmel microcontroller. The language tools come from Atmel. The debugger
runs via a BDM link, which is similar to JTag.

I will download the sample tools this week at work.

Thanks again,
Tom

The short answer is yes, the longer answer is yes with some acceptions.
I've used eclipse a lot, as well as products based on it. Things like code
editing, stepping through code in a debugger, and viewing variables work
fine. Other visual things like GUI designers and UML diagrams don't work
with Jaws. What system are you guys looking at using?
