Nod the power of git is amazing it has saved my bacon so many times. I use
it for operating system development for example the Braille + is under git
repository. We also have things like ikiwiki repositories we use with git
and several other things and it just makes branching and making little and
big changes a dream.

Thanks again,

Yes, when I went to a session on Git at Drupalcon it was a little bit scary.
That being said, for a project with the number of developers and with the
size of Drupal it will be an incredibly powerful tool. It is going to take
some time for me to fully wrap my head around the distributed nature of
repositories and branching, but this is a learning curve that all involved
in the development of Drupal will need to overcome.

Thanks again,

I think with all the things git can do it would be hard to make a full
feature GUI client all though I hear some try. Git though allows you to do
so much with extra scripts if you want to it would surely lose something in
creating a GUI for it.

I really like the command line git but I am going to warn you. This is not
a repository system for the faint at heart. I would suggest you read the
tutorials on git online so you understand what branches repositories mean in
git verse what they mean in other repositories.

Good evening Ken,

Do you find the command line client easy to use, or do you think that you
would find advantages to a GUI client?

Thanks,

I use git at work every day every hour in fact I was just pulling down a
repository when I opened your email. I just use the command line clients in
cygwin and linux. I am sure there is one for windows but you couldn't pay
me enough to develop in windows without cygwin.

Good afternoon,

I am curious if anyone has experience working with the Git version control
system and if they can recommend any accessible Git clients on any operating
systems. Drupal currently uses CVS, but is migrating to Git and I would
like to collect a list of clients to publish on the Drupal web-site.

Please forward to anyone you think may be able to help.
