I usually just type emacspeak from the terminal and emacspeak comes right up. In vinux: ctrl+alt+f1 to open a terminal printscreen to kill speakup emacspeak Emacspeak comes right up. If you have voxin, try: emacspeak -o The -o stands for outloud. The beeps are what I get when it can't find the speaker. I tried using it with voxin and it couldn't find it. I found a "fool proof" article for getting emacspeak to talk with Voxin from a terminal: http://wiki.vinuxvirtual.org.uk/index.php?title=Here_is_a_excellent_and_foolproof_method_for_installing_Via_Voice_Voxin. Maybe that will help. I'll bre trying it myself tonight. Regards, Alex M On 10/21/10, Jared Wright <wright.jaredm@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > A couple of questions, then. > > 1.
