Hi Matthew.

I don't think that's the case at all. I don't believe there's a word
processer that works directly in dazie. To create documents your still
going to have to use something like Word. I also think that
accessibility generally seems to be being a bigger thing at Microsoft
than it's been in the past so I don't think MS will use this as any sort
of excuse, if anything it's going to be used as a marketing tool, "Hay
look, word can do this!".

I think this is a good thing, and MS should be commended for working
with the dazie format.

Cheers.
Nick.

Hi all,

Is it possible this new MS Word tool could backfire and actually set us
back? That is, Microsoft can now go ahead and develop MS office software
in
the future without regard to blindness issues, and if we complain that
they
are not giving us accessibility, they can simply state: "why should we
bother spending all the time and financial resources on developing word
when
there already exists a tool to take word documents and turn them into
daisy?
After all, isn't this the standard for accessibility of text documents
the
blind community has been demanding and crowing about?"

Just a thought.

Matthew
