Ok, I was also just told that the "Subject" box is for exact matches.
So that explains it.

Neither am I.

I was just told to put the word(s) in the "Has the words" text box, but
nothing about the "Subject" text box. That works. So since that works,
I'm wondering what the "Subject" text box is for.

If you enter a word in the subject field, then make a rule (Say,
delete all messages with this word in the subject), all such will be
deleted.
It couldn't be simpler, so I'm not sure what's going on.
