[PCWorks] How to recover a lost PC password

A friend has locked herself out of her PC. The password she wrote on paper
does not appear to be the password the PC used.
What is the quickest-and-easiest (and least disruptive) way of recovering
the pw, or wiping the current pw from the PC and starting over.
