If you use WordPress and you're planning to upgrade to 2.8, before you do so, first make sure you manually disable ALL your plugins, and then upgrade. Apparently I wasn't the only one that had trouble (as I found out later). I used the built in method to upgrade, and it said it disabled my plugins but still ended up with a HTTP 500 error. Had to go back and install 2.7.1 again, disable plugins and then install 2.8. No harm done, but had I known. It would have been unnecessary.
