Hi Vic, I have Windows ME, and when I click on properties for the shortcut, there is no advanced under the program tab. So when I click on the shortcut, all it brings up is a window that says "You are already running Windows", and then I click the "x" to close the box. Any suggestions? And the full command path does show C:\WINDOWS\WIN.COM /d:m. Maybe it doesn't work in ME???? Thanks, Betty Vic wrote: Here is how you can create a desktop shortcut that when clicked will automatically boot you into Safe Mode. I tested this on Windows 95, 98 but should work in Me too. Right click your desktop and choose New>Shortcut. In the command line enter this command: WIN /D:M Click Next, choose any name you want for the shortcut. Click Next and choose your icon. Click Finish. Right click your new shortcut and go to Properties. Click the Program tab and then the Advanced tab. Put a checkmark next to MS-DOS Mode Remove the checkmark from "Warn before entering MS-DOS Mode" Click OK And that's it. Now, whenever you need or want to get into Safe Mode (ie - as for a defrag) just double click the icon. vic To unsub or change your email settings: //www.freelists.org/webpage/pctechtalk To access our Archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PCTechTalk/messages/ //www.freelists.org/archives/pctechtalk/
