When you open an existing file, edit it and then save it, it
automatically saves it back to the same place it was in when
you opened it unless you select "Save as" instead of simply
"Save". (Click on File>Save As instead of If you select
Save As and choose a different location you will then have
the old version in its old location and the new version in
the new location.

If you are saving a newly created document it will
automatically be saved to Documents unless you choose a
different location in the "Save" dialog box.

To move a document from the default location to a new
location right click and hold on the document, drag it to
the new location, release and then select Move. This will
copy the file to the new location and delete it from the old
location. Then when you open it, edit it and save it, it
will be saved to the new location by default.

Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- windows 7, saving to my documents
not library

Hi guys,

How do I avoid saving to the libraries/documents area when
going through my documents, opening a file up and saving it.
I want it to take me to folders I already have in my
documents not in the library. This is very annoying to me.
I use windows 7.

thanks
Christy
