XP was installed already when I purchased my  computer.

I had the same problem. . .I got a clean copy of the dll and installed it
after renaming the old one 'oldrundll.exe'. . .don't have XP, so can't help
you there. . .maybe use your install CD. . .more help can be found for XP at
this site. . .[I found it helpful when repairing neighbor's computer]
