Taken from modemhelp.net RPC Errors. NT Authority. Blaster Worm. Etc. As Windows Update is having issues I have added links to direct Microsoft downloads for RPC patches. There is also a removal tool for the worm Blaster, associated with this exploit. As a result of this, please feel free to send your customers here so that they may patch their systems and remove the worm. Signs that your computer is infected with this worm include sluggishness, crashing, or the following message: "This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changed will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM", and in a Message box you will see: "Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly" To make certain that you stay online while downloading the patch, if a message appears saying that you will be shut down in 60 seconds and you are running Windows XP, goto Start > Run > and use the command: shutdown -a This command will abort the shutdown and keep you downloading. NOTE: THESE DOWNLOADS ARE DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Neither myself, your ISP, nor anyone but yourself are responsible for any problems encountered with the download and installation of either Microsoft patch. ----- Original Message ----- From: "KC" <alienkc@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2003 7:19 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: XP Virus. or something. > oh and if he does not have XP have him go to modemhelp.net > there are instructions on a command to prevent that to give him time to > download the fix > it is something like command -a or something > modemhelp.net has the fix for both > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Lionel" <percy10@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2003 7:08 PM > Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- XP Virus. or something. > > > Hi Everyone.
