I don't use screensavers. I simply turn off my monitors
(have two) at night and let my computer do it's thing. It
needs to be on as I only use computer phones (magic jack
and skype).

Since I have fiber optic, my phone is better than when I
had a landline and cable for my phone system.

Hey gang,

I've bought myself a new flatscreen monitor, since my old
CRT was about to
die. I ended up with an affordable Benq 22" screen, looks
and operates just
nice.

However, are screensavers still necessary to run? Back in
the 90s I was
taught that screensavers prevented "pixel burn" or pixel
death but obviously
it's another game now, with LCD screens in their umpteenth
generation.

Do I still need to run screensavers? They just slow down
my already sluggish
computer. If LCDs should not be static over long period of
time, maybe I can
switch it off over night in stead (my computer chews on
stuff over night).
