MJH,

I have used D-Link products extensively both at home and work and can highly
recommend them. They also have some of the best tech support I have ever
seen. (We had a tech come out to our office to try to help at one point.)
They also appear to be the leaders in wireless technology. It sounds like
you will need to go wireless so you will probably want to review those
options with whomever you are purchasing the products. I generally deal
with the wired stuff, (their gigabit technology is first-rate as well) but
from talking to friends who do the wireless installs, they swear by D-Link
as well. If you want some un-biased reviews on the products you are looking
at, try looking them up on Epinions.com. Its a consumer review website that
has recently partnered with Dealtime. Believe me, if people have problems
with a device, they have no problems sharing that information!

James

Hiya all
Gonna bite the bullet and network stuff, haven't had a real network here
for ten years and things sure have changed.
The systems and printer are in different rooms
Main location includes
1. Athlon 700 with WIN98se
2. HP 5si MX with the network card....
3. Microtek scanner

Entry room
Compaq Celeron running WIN 98se

floating around to wherever
Gateway solo 9150 notebook running WIN 98se

gonna replace the Gateway

1. I cannot hardwire the Athlong and Compaq. This is an old farmhouse and
these systems are over crawl space.

2. I have a USB ethernet connection between the Gateway and Compaq.

3. The Compaq needs to print on the 100 lb HP laserjet in the next room.

4. D-Link seems to have a wireless thing with also an RJ45 port and options

galore.

What are your recommendations?

thanks
mjh
