When I worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Jacksonville Branch we
called $1,000, 1M so when I left I was terribly confused at seeing 1K all over
and $100,000 was 100M and a million was 1MM. I worked in the Securities
Services Department the entire time I worked there so we dealt with huge
amounts of money's worth of securities. For all I know they changed the name
of the department since I left. It was first called the Fiscal Agency
Department then changed to Securities Services Department.

How about just selling drives that equal 500GB of usable space AFTER
formatting? The public really won't care if that means 536GB of space on
the platters. ;)
