On a side note, ZoneAlarm has an included antivirus app. I don't know if its only with the pay version of ZA, but if its included in the free version you can always check that out as well. I myself have never really tried it long enough to see if I like it. And, to be honest with you, until ZA proves itself in the antivirus arena, I prefer ZA to only guard my walls. Just a FYI. :o) ____________________________________ Sir Troth ICQ #1717439 AIM/AOL: SirTrothX Yahoo: SirTroth MSN: SirTroth@xxxxxxxxxxx (do not email me here) My Personal Email: SirTroth@xxxxxxxxx -------------------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Scott Sent: Tuesday, December 13, 2005 12:44 AM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Is More Needed? Hi Tori. I too have Avast and love it, but I personally believe one needs a bit more protection than just an A\V. Do you have a firewall installed besides the one the Win XP offers? If not, check out Zone Alarm, the free basic version is what I have, and you can get it here: www.zonelabs.com Also you might want to check into some antispyware utilities. You can go to www.majorgeeks.com and browse through all the ones there. The ones that I have are, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware SE, and Spyware Blaster. I also have a couple of free registry cleaners and also a couple of those cleaners that clean up after all the web surfing. All these and more can be found thru that site I mentioned. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Happy Holidays, Scott. Oh yea, 3 years of happy surfing and not once did I have to reinstall or reformat anything. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tori" <verse@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, December 12, 2005 6:40 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Is More Needed? I have an HP using XPSP2. It came with Norton2004 Virus and Firewall. Money got tight and I didn't keep up the subscription. I have totally removed it and installed Avast. Is that enough by itself or should I use more? If so, what? I'm primarily interested in the free programs at this point. Thanks. Tori --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean.
