Directron.com has a $10 minimum order requirement.
When I need an item under $10 I scroll through the clearance items, cables,
etc., and pad my order up to the minimum.
I love to window shop in sites like that so I'll wander through cables
looking for the 39 cent sale items, the free USPS shipping items, any of the
other Clearance sections, to fill my order.
IDE ribbon cables...... it's just a matter of time until you try to remove
one and the connector pulls off. SATA cables........... add one to your
order when it's on sale or includes free shipping so you have spares (in
varying lengths).
If you want to take the time, you can fill a minimum order with sale items
that will all ship free and you'll have that cable in the bottom drawer when
you need it.
With a spare cable of various types it is easy to swap out one that is
suspect for a new one "just in case".
With my $10 worth of sale items like cables I can save $100 worth of time
plus another 29 cents worth of frustration.
Several years ago I went charging up to BestBuy a few days before Christmas
because I needed a SATA cable five minutes ago. The cheapest cable in the
joint was $29.95 because it had gold pins, an automatic transmission, and a
100 year warranty!
That's where I learned to dance.
