True! Hackers can bounce all around the world to hide. But they can be found. On 10/09/14 13:50, Mike Green wrote:
Internet traffic cannot be routed anywhere without going through an ISP first. And there is no such thing as a world-wide ISP, nor would it be possible. Internet service provision is highly regulated on a country by country basis with licenses issued by respective governments for internet services provided within their country only. In order for the Maidsafe network to act as an ISP it would, therefore, have to set up infrastructure in every country in which it operates and apply to every respective government for a licence. Then we have the problem of respective governments having their own unique regulations and restrictions on what can and can't be accessed by end users. I am not convinced this isn't just another rouse to make us think that we are anonymous, a word that is touted endlessly by such people as TOR and Maidsafe without them ever explaining what that means. We would be anonymous from other users on the Maidsafe network, yes, but we can never be anonymous when it comes to our ISP.Mike. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: RE: [patriots] Re: Internet & e-mail security Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2014 13:30:07 +0100 From: Chris Pead <cpead@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: 'Mike Green' <mikegreen247@xxxxxxxxx>I assume Mike, that the new system will be one’s ISP as your internet traffic will be routed direct to the new system. - Chris*From:*Mike Green [mailto:mikegreen247@xxxxxxxxx] *Sent:* 10 September 2014 12:26 *To:* Chris Pead; patriots@xxxxxxxxxxxxx *Subject:* Re: [patriots] Re: Internet & e-mail securityBut you cannot bypass your ISP unless you have a physical connection to the network you want to access. How can it bypass the carriers? I connect to the internet via my local telephone exchange, owned and controlled by BT, as most people do. BT also happens to be my Internet Service Provider ISP) or carrier. They could shut me down any time they felt like it no matter who my ISP was. How do we get around that? Mike. It bypasses the carriers, so in order to destroy it they will have to remove telephone network. What is the cost in the future, will it increase - the poor may be left in the dark. What will the speed be like? And do you not think that when loads of us use it, the government will immediately crack down on it and inform all carriers to block it's use. Just points to ponder before we get too exited. Colin. Several people responded pointing out that whilst we use servers security is still non-existent! I have just watched this from Chris Pead and this seems to have cracked the problem in that it doesn't use servers to send data. Although it is not up and running as such it is attracting a huge amount of interest from people concerned about keeping their data safe. There are two videos one which is the two Scottish developers are interviewed by Max Keiser and the other is an animation that explain in simple terms how the system will work. I thoroughly recommend watching it and suggest watching the animation one first and then watch the interview. I would appreciate feedback from all the computer geeks back to the list rather than me personally. I think this will also be of special interest to the ECG!
